Arrange furniture and try finishes in your own room, build freely in the creative sandbox, or decorate a photo. Rooms and photos can be saved on your device. We do not store your saved rooms on our servers.
Read our privacy notice, terms of use, and affiliate disclosure. If you move to a new LivingLayout website address, your browser saves do not move automatically: download room files first and separately export any photos or notes you want to keep.
Manage automatic saving for all tools. Furniture hearts save favorites on this device; recently placed pieces and quick-guide dismissal last only for the current visit.
Make room for your ideas.
Every furnishing is free. Choose one from the collection and click a clear spot to place it. Select a piece to move, rotate, remove or change its finish. Undo and Redo let you try different arrangements.
Room views and movement
Furnish opens the dollhouse. Drag empty space to orbit and scroll to zoom. Floor plan shows the room from above. Recenter fits the room into view. On touch screens, use one finger to orbit and two fingers to pan or pinch.
Play opens a first-person view. Drag empty space to look around and use WASD, arrows or on-screen buttons to move. Click and drag furniture to reposition it, or use Placement controls. Furnish returns to the dollhouse.
Keyboard and placement controls
Focus the room before using shortcuts. G moves a selected piece; R or E rotates right; Q rotates left. Arrows move 25 cm, or 5 cm with Shift. Enter confirms placement, and Escape cancels it. Ctrl/Command Z undoes a change; add Shift to redo.
Use exact position and angle controls for precise placement. Open Studio help to turn keyboard shortcuts off. In first person, Walls & floor changes surface finishes. Architecture tools and additional floors are available in the creative sandbox.
Your room stays with you.
Automatic saving is off until you enable it. Use the room name in the toolbar to open Your room & saves, then choose Automatically save this room on this device. Turning it off keeps existing saved copies and stops future automatic saves. There is no account or server copy of your room.
Download and restore a room file
Choose Download room file, then Download backup file or Save backup as when available. Check that the file exists on your computer before closing the page. The file contains the room layout and furnishings.
To restore it, choose Restore room file, select a file on your computer, review the room and choose Open this room. The file is read locally and is never uploaded. The previous room is kept as a recovery file on this device.
Earlier exported room and career backups remain readable. Their home room is restored without bringing back client jobs or character setup.
Browser storage and recovery
Clearing browser data removes device saves. Private browsing, a full storage quota or browser settings can prevent saving. Keep the page open and download a room file if saving pauses.
If another tab changes the saved room, automatic saving pauses to protect both copies. Download your current work before reloading. If a stored room is unreadable, its original data is kept with a recovery download. We cannot recover a file after it is deleted from your computer.
Creative sandbox saves
My designs in the separate sandbox keeps copies in this browser on this device. It also exports and imports editable design files. Those saved copies and files are not uploaded to us. A downloaded room snapshot is an image, not an editable room.
Try a look in your real space.
Open a JPG, PNG or WebP up to 12 MB, or choose a sample space. Place decorations on the photo and adjust their size, rotation and perspective. Before compares the original and your arrangement.
Save a photo design
Saved looks provides three device-local slots. Export PNG downloads an image. When you enable automatic saving, the current photo design can restore for up to 30 days after its last saved edit; saved looks remain until replaced or browser data is cleared.
Export a copy before replacing a look. If an HEIC photo will not open, convert it to JPG or PNG first.
Explore the room.
If the 3D view will not open
Your room and local save controls remain available. Use room-list view to edit without 3D, or Retry 3D view to try again. Keep a downloaded room file before leaving if saving is unavailable.

Furniture models illustrate an arrangement. Shopping links may open a similar-style listing or retailer search. Check the retailer’s dimensions, materials, price and availability. Affiliate links may earn a commission.
